Srinagar: Police in Kulgam have solved a theft case by arresting the accused person and recovered stolen property from his possession, a police spokesperson informed Monday.

He said acting on a written complaint from Abdul Rashid Dhobi, son of Ghulam Rasool Dhobi of Yaripora, about the theft of a bag from his shop at Main Chowk Yaripora, police after registering a case constituted a special team to investigate the matter.

The police team rounded up a few suspects and put them to sustained questioning, during which one Saqib Ahmad Ganie, son of Abdul Rashid Ganie of Yaripora admitted his involvement in the theft. He was arrested and on his disclosure, stolen property (cash of ₹36,240) and record book of the shop were recovered by the police team. Further investigation of the case is in progress, police said.
