Srinagar: Police in Baramulla have solved theft cases by arresting an accused person and recovered stolen property from his possession, a police spokesperson informed.

It said on April 4, Police Station Pattan received a written complaint from president Masjid Baitul Huda Pattan stating therein that the donation box of the Masjid has been looted by some thieves. A jacket and a mobile phone was also stolen from the Masjid.

The thieves had also looted the donation box at nearby Ziyarat. A Samsung tab was stolen by thieves at State Bank of India in Pattan market.

Investigating these cases of theft, police zeroed in on one suspect Nasir Ahmad Najar, son of Abdul Rashid, resident of Najar Mohalla Pattan, who was traced and arrested at TRC Srinagar, police said.

During questioning, accused Najar confessed his involvement in these cases of theft. On his disclosure the stolen property has been recovered from his possession, spokesperson said, adding that the accused remains in police custody.
