Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Sopore and Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Monday.

He said at Adipora Sopore, police arrested one Farooq Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Rashid Mir, resident of Adipora Sopore after search of his vehicle (JK05H-6710) yielded about two kilograms of poppy straw-like substance.

At a checkpoint at Garkote-Laghama, police intercepted and later arrested one Kabir Ali Manhas, son of Shafayat Ali Manhas, resident of Paranpeelan Baramulla. During the search, 240 grams of contraband cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation initiated, police said.
