Srinagar, Apr 05: Anti Corruption Bureau on Friday informed that it has arrested Patwari, Halqa Machedi, Kathua for demanding and accepting bribe of ₹3000 for issuance of ‘Virasati Intqal’ and legal heir certificate.

Sharing details, the ACB said acting on a written complaint from a resident of Machhedi, Kathua alleging therein that Gulshan Singh, Patwari, Halqa Machhedi, Kathua was demanding bribe of ₹5000 from him for issuance of ‘Virsati Intqal’ mutations and legal heir certificate.

The complainant had applied through the online portal of the Revenue department and met Patwari for issuance of the same. The Patwari received an amount of ₹2000 as advance, and was demanding another ₹3000 from the complainant for issuance of these documents.

After registering a case, a trap team was constituted which caught the accused Patwari red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of ₹3000 in presence of independent witnesses. He was arrested on the spot after completing legal formalities, ACB said.

After the arrest of the accused, searches were also conducted in his residential house at Ward No. 21, Ram Nagar Colony, Kathua.

Further investigation in the case is going on.
