12 candidates in fray for Udhampur LS segment
Jammu: Two more candidates today filed their nomination papers from Jammu Lok Sabha constituency for second phase of ensuing parliamentary elections scheduled to be held in Jammu and Kashmir on April 26.
The candidates, including Surinder Singh as Independent candidate and Jugal Kishore from Bharatiya Janata Party filed their nomination papers in the office of Returning Officer Jammu Lok Sabha constituency.
With the filing of nomination papers by these two candidates, the total number of candidates who have filed their candidature for 5-Jammu PC goes to four.
The last day for filing of nomination papers is April 04, 2024 up to 03:00 PM.
Meanwhile, 12 candidates are in fray for Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha seat of Jammu and Kashmir, which is going to polls for the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections as no one has withdrawn nominations during the stipulated time.
Returning Officer (RO) for the 4-Udhampur Parliamentary Constituency, Dr Rakesh said that none of the candidates withdrew his papers and 12 candidates remain in fray for the seat.
Earlier, 15 candidates including BJP’s present Member Parliament and MoS Dr. Jitendra Singh and Congress party’s candidate and former MP Choudhary Lal Singh along with their covering candidates filed papers. After scrutiny, RO rejected papers of three covering candidates of BJP, Congress and BSP.
Those who remain in fray included Amit Kumar of BSP, Balwan Singh of Jammu Kashmir National Panther Party (Bhim), Dr Jitendra Singh of BJP, Ch Lal Singh of Congress, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori of Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), Manoj Kumar of Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal, Dr Pankaj Sharma, Rajesh Manchanda, Sachin Gupta, Swarn Veer Singh, mohd ali Gujar and Mehraj Din as Independent.
