The event resulted in significant damage to the attic portion of the residential structure, which the officials claimed, occurred due to the short circuit.

Locals assisted fire and emergency service workers in putting out the flames, claiming that the fire events caused complete mayhem and uncertainty in these localities.

Another shop, situated in a double-storey commercial complex was also destroyed in the similar incident at Hawal area in the old city last night. Police have taken up the investigation into the incidents.

Assistant Director (F&ES) Aqib Hussain Mir while confirming the fire incidents in Srinagar said the police have registered cases and started investigations to ascertain the actual cause of fire.

He said that teams of firefighters accompanied by several fire tenders were dispatched to the affected areas as soon as the information about the inferno was received.

“The firefighting teams were immediately dispatched to the affected areas to douse off the flames. Police have taken cognizance of all three incidents and set investigation into motion to ascertain the cause of the fire,” Mir told ‘Kashmir Images’.
