No loss of life was reported in the incident, they said.

According to officials, the avalanche struck the Hung area of Sonamarg, along the Srinagar-Leh highway in the afternoon.

Two vehicles were buried in snow, but all the occupants were rescued, they said.

Meanwhile, authorities on Friday issued a fresh avalanche warning for four districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Avalanches with medium danger level are likely to occur above 2400 metres over Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal and Baramulla districts in next 24 hours,” an official of J&K Disaster Management Authority (JKDMA) informed.

He advised people living in respective areas to take precautions and avoid venturing in the avalanche-prone areas.

“For any emergency people can dial 112 for help,” he added.
