Srinagar: A man has been arrested for stabbing his uncle to death during a fight in the Hafta Yarbal locality of Srinagar’s Safakadal area on Sunday morning, police said.

Sharing details, a police spokesperson said that on Sunday morning there was some altercation between a butcher named Irfan Ahmad Ganie and his uncle Nisar Ahmad Ganie. Irfan’s other uncle Fayaz Ahmad Ganie, tried to intervene in the matter but was stabbed by Irfan.

He said that soon after the incident the victim was rushed to SMHS Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Police spokesperson said that police have arrested the accused Irfan Ahmad Ganie, son of Mohammad Shafi Ganie within hours after the incident while a case (FIR No. 29/2024) under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Safakadal.

“The weapon of offence has been seized. Forensic analysis and medico-legal procedures are currently underway and further investigation is going on,” the police said.
