DGP expressed hope that the festival of colours will usher the Union Territory towards peace, progress and prosperity, strengthening the brotherhood, and communal harmony which over the years has been a hallmark of Jammu and Kashmir. “Such occasions give us a good chance to spread the message of peace, joy and love across society and to celebrate unity in diversity,” DGP said.

In his greetings, the DGP has further said that although there are many legends behind the celebration of this festival yet the common thread is: that life is colourful, joyous and worth living when good prevails over wrong, when we are social beings and we can’t be happy alone.
