Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Awantipora and Budgam and recovered contraband, psychotropic substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Thursday.
He said in Awantipora, at Bajwani Tral, police arrested a drug peddler identified as Mohammad Amin Malik, son of Ghulam Nabi Malik of Lurgam Tral after 2000 capsules of banned drug were recovered from his possession.
An auto-rickshaw (JK01AR-2030)was stopped at a checkpoint near Toll Plaza Awantipora and 52 grams of cannabis was recovered from the possession of its driver Mushtaq Ahmad Chopan, son of Abdul Samad Chopan, resident of Hawal Srinagar.
In Budgam, during routine checking at Qumiroo crossing, one Bashir Ahmed Hajam, son of Ghulam Ahmad Hajam, resident of Qumiroo, was arrested after 4.6 Kgs of poppy straw-like substance in powder form was recovered from his possession, police said.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigations, police said.
