Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Wednesday.
He said police at a checkpoint near Higher Secondary School Kullar, Pahalgam, intercepted two vehicles (JK02AR-9633 and JK02CJ-3995). During search of these vehicles, police recovered about 90 kgs of poppy straw, and cash of Rs 39,000 cash from the possession of their drivers — Ubaid Gulzar Lone, son of Gulzar Ahmad Lone, and Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Jabbar Bhat, both residents of Taki Maqsood Shah Bijbehara. Both persons were arrested and vehicles seized, while a case was registered for further investigations, police said.
