Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Budgam, Kulgam and Baramulla districts, a police spokesperson informed Tuesday.

He said at Sadipora in Budgam, police intercepted a vehicle (JK013-6836) driven by one Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh, son of Habibullah Sheikh of Samboora Pulwama. During the search, 534 grams of cannabis-like substance in grinded form and six cannabis sticks wrapped in corn husk weighing about 115 grams were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and vehicle seized.

In Kulgam, at Yaripora near Sunmen Bridge two persons — Samandeep Singh, son of Badur Singh, and Kamaljeet Kaur, daughter of Santook Singh, both residents of Talwandi Mallia, were arrested after police recovered 20 grams of brown sugar-like contraband substance from their possession.

At Noorkhah in Baramulla district, one Dilshad Ahmad War, son of Ghulam Qadir of Lachipora, was arrested after 70 grams of contraband cannabis-like substances was recovered from his possession.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigations, police said.
