Dir Agri inaugurates prog on “Promotion of Medicinal and Aromatic plants”

HADP: Director Agriculture inaugurates CBP on ‘promotion of oilseeds’

SRINAGAR: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal, today Inaugurated a capacity-building programme on “Promotion of Medicinal and Aromatic plants” under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme at Sub-division Chadoora, Budgam.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director of Agriculture enumerated the initiatives by the department for the promotion of Medicinal & Aromatic plants on a commercial basis in the region. He said that the department has already brought new areas and lands under the cultivation of Medicinal & Aromatic plants on a commercial basis.

Under HADP the cultivation has been extended, and introduced to all the districts of the Kashmir division, he added.

Chowdhury said that there is a vast potential for the promotion of these plants in the region. He said that the department has not only provided planting material to the concerned farmers but is working in close coordination with the farmers and offering them technical guidance during their crop cultivation activities.

He impressed upon the participants to work in close coordination and ensure maximum awareness among the farmers regarding the various projects under HADP.

Meanwhile, he distributed Medicinal & Aromatic plants among the concerned farmers.

M.Y. Shakoor DLSMS, Fayaz Ahmad War SDAO Chadoora, Syed Mubashir Qamar AEO Chadoora, other concerned officers and a large number of farmers were present in the programme.
