PM VISIT: CBSE seeks Srinagar admin’s help for smooth conduct of exams on March 7

Srinagar: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has written to District Administration Srinagar to ensure smooth conduct of class 10th and 12th CBSE examination slated for March 07 of 2024 in wake of PM’s visit at Srinagar.

In an official communication addressed to DC Srinagar, the Regional Officer CBSE Chandigarh, Dr. Shvetta Arora said: “As you may be aware that CBSE Class X/XII 2024 Annual examinations are being held across the country and during these ongoing examinations as informed a major rally of Hon’ble Prime Minister is scheduled to be held in Srinagar on March 7, 2024.”

The regional officer has stated that there is a major exam of CBSE of Class 10th Social Science and Class 12th Legal Studies subject to be conducted on this date.

The exam centres have been set up at Army School Badami Bagh Cantonment Srinagar, Delhi Public School Pantha Chowk, Minto Circle English Medium High School Srinagar, J N V Ganderbal Hatbara and K V NO. 1 Srinagar and K V NO. 2 AFS Srinagar respectively.

“Approximately, 824 candidates of Class X and 10 candidates from Class XII from across Srinagar will appear through the above-mentioned centres. The examination timings are from 10:30 am to 1:30pm with candidates approaching and arriving at centres between 9:00 am and 10:00 am which is the last time of entry at examination centres,” the official communication reads.

“It is requested to help candidates with valid CBSE admit cards to reach their respective examination centres with all safety protocols in place,” the communication reads that the arrival of candidates at examination centres during safety protocols of the PM visit will be a concern for all schools and candidates.

“Your co-operation in conducting CBSE examinations is highly solicited. Thanking you in advance,” the official communication reads.

Earlier, the students of class 10th and 12th in CBSE-affiliated schools in Srinagar expressed concern over the scheduled exams coinciding with the PM’s March 07 Kashmir visit and sought postponement of the said exams.

With the heightened security measures in place for the Prime Minister’s visit, parents were worried about the safety and convenience of their children commuting to the exam centers.

JKBOSE postpones class 10th exams scheduled on March 7

Meanwhile The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has postponed the annual examination of 10th standard scheduled on March 07, the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Srinagar.

In a notification, Director Academics, JKBOSE, said: “In view of unavoidable circumstances the examination of Vocational Subjects including agriculture, apparels, makeup and home furnishing, automotive, beauty and wellness, health core, IT& ITES. Physical Education & Sports, Plumbing/ Retail, security, telecommunication, tourism and hospitality, electronics and hardware of Secondary School Examination (Class 10th) Session Annual (Regular)2024 of Soft Zone areas of UT of Jammu & Kashmir, which was scheduled to be held on 07-03-2024 has been postponed.”

He said the examination will now be held on 4th April.

The examination of rest of the subjects scheduled from March11 will be held as per the date-sheet already issued, he added.
