Traffic Police order inquiry after cop, civilian exchange blows

Srinagar: Traffic Police on Friday ordered a departmental enquiry after a video showing a civilian and cops engaging in a physical brawl near a prominent street junction in Srinagar.

A video of the incident which went viral on social media platforms shows a civilian and a traffic cop punching each other near Jehangir Chowk.

According to Traffic officials, the incident happened after a driver was asked to remove his vehicle from the main road in order to avoid congestion.

Taking to micro-blogging site X, the Traffic City Srinagar said: “Incident in which a driver was asked to remove his vehicle from main road to avoid congestion, led to altercation and manhandling.”

It said that “Departmental enquiry has been initiated to ascertain the facts. Action as per law shall be taken against the person found guilty”.
