SRINAGAR: The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri today convened a meeting to review the arrangements for the celebration of Maha Shivratri across the valley.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, Officers of Health Services, Floriculture, PDD, PHE, SMC, R&B, Fire and Emergency, Transport, SRTC, Food Safety and other concerned departments.

The meeting held a threadbare discussion on the civil arrangements to facilitate the Pandit Community to observe the festival with religious fervour.

Addressing the Officers, Div Com instructed the Director of Floriculture to ensure the availability of fresh flowers at Shankar Acharya Temple and Kheer Bhawani.

He asked officers of the Horticulture Department to ensure the availability of walnuts and Lotus Stem (Nadru) at prominent religious places and localities of the Pandit Community.

Similarly, the concerned officer of the Fisheries Department was directed to ensure the availability of fish in the market.

Meanwhile, Div Com directed SMC to conduct cleanliness and sanitation drives at the religious places of the community to create an atmosphere of festivity.

PDD was asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply on the occasion of Maha Shivratri while Jal Shakti was asked to provide water tankers in addition to regular water supply.

J&K RTC was asked to provide buses for transportation and similarly, traffic police were asked to chalk out a traffic plan for the smooth movement of devotees.
