Relief Commr (M) reviews arrangements for Maha Shivratri Festival

JAMMU: A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Dr. Arvind Karwani, Relief and Rehabilitation (M) J&K to review the necessary arrangements for the Annual Maha Shivratri Festival, falling on 07/08th of March 2024.

The officers from Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Fisheries, Floriculture, Horticulture, Sheep Husbandry, Jal Shakti, Jammu Municipal Corporation and representatives from District Administration attended the meeting.

The chair highlighted the importance of the Maha Shivratri Festival, particularly for the Kashmiri Pandit community and requested the District Administration to constitute checking squads to monitor the quality and the rates of essential commodities like Flowers, Pooja items, Mutton, Fish, Vegetables, Milk products etc.

The Floriculture Department assured the supply of flowers especially Bael/Bael leaves and Marigold to all the migrant camps viz. Jagti, Muthi, Purkhoo and Nagrota and Non Camps areas where Kashmiri Pandits have a sizeable population viz Durga Nagar, Roop Nagar, Janipur Colony, Anand Nagar, Bohri, Gangyal, Subash Nagar, Muthi, Udhaywala, Talab Tillo etc. during the festival days.

The Department of Horticulture assured supply of good quality walnuts, green vegetables, especially Nadru, etc in all the migrant camps and non-camps areas during the festival days at approved rates.

The Department of FCS&CA assured smooth supply of all quality food items in camps and non-camp areas.

The Jammu Municipal Corporation assured arrangements of cleanliness in the areas falling within the municipal limits.

The Sheep Husbandry Department, Jammu assured an adequate supply of mutton at reasonable rates in close coordination with Jammu Municipal Corporation.

The Department of Fisheries assured the supply of adequate quantities of fish in all the migrant camps and prominent non-camps areas.

The participants assured that all the necessary arrangements will be in place well in advance to facilitate the smooth celebration of the Maha Shivratri festival.

Chief Engineer, JPDCL and Chief Engineer, PHE Department, were requested to ensure uninterrupted electricity and water supply in all the migrant camps and non-camps areas during the festival days
