KUPWARA: : Secretary of Youth Service and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez, on Friday, convened a mega public darbar at Town Hall Kupwara to take stock of public grievances besides assessing development activities in the area.

On the occasion, the Secretary also e-inaugurated three development projects in the area.

Chairman, District Development Council Kupwara, Irfan Sultan Panditpori, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, Vice Chairman, District Development Council Kupwara, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir, DDC member Drugmulla, Advocate Amina, ADDC, Gulzar Ahmad Bhat, ADC, Muhammad Rouf Rehman, district officers, PRI representatives and locals attended the programme.

Addressing the Public Darbar, Sarmad Hafeez complimented the people for the tremendous achievements recorded in the growth and development of the Kupwara district besides appreciating the district administration for their dedicated efforts on this account.

While highlighting the importance of holding the public darbars, the Secretary said that these outreach programs act as a bridge between the administration and the people resolving their issues at their doorstep. He said that LG’s initiative of bringing administration to the doorsteps of people aimed at making government services more accessible and convenient for people by enhancing transparency, efficiency and citizen engagement with the government.

He added that around 1200 digital services are being provided by the government to citizens which empower and facilitate them with convenient access to essential resources, information and support while enhancing the efficiency and transparency of government operations.

While highlighting the role of the community in the development process, Sarmad Hafeez emphasized for further strengthening of coordination between the public and the administration while elaborating on the huge responsibilities of both. “Collaborative approach is imperative to contribute towards building a stronger, more cohesive society, where everyone has the opportunities to thrive and succeed.

DDC Chairman Kupwara expressed gratitude for the enhancement of remuneration of Rehbr-e Khel (ReKs) and demanded funds for sports infrastructure in the district so that infrastructure is developed.

Regarding sports infrastructure, the Secretary assured that adequate funding will be ensured for the Galizoo sports stadium and other playgrounds of the Kupwara district. He urged upon the youth to take advantage of different self-employment schemes of the government.

The Deputy Commissioner, while speaking on the occasion, said that this is the third mega public darbar in the district, She also asked the participants to share their valuable inputs and feedback regarding the implementation of welfare schemes. She said that Kupwara district is an aspirational district and two of its blocks Keran and Machil are the aspirational blocks.

Vice Chairman, DDC Kupwara, demanded more snow cutter machines and other infrastructure for the mechanical division.

During the event, Sarmad Hafeez also e-inaugurated three infrastructure developmental projects including the Science Laboratory with a computer room at Haril Handwara, the Health Centre at Shahlal and the improvement of the road by way of R/Walls at Haihma.

The people expressed gratitude to the district administration for organizing the public outreach programmes saying that such programs provide them an opportunity to voice their grievances and developmental issues for speedy redressal.
