Speaking on the occasion, the Director of Agriculture appreciated the efforts of the concerned officers and officials of the farm and said that the department is vigorously pursuing the ambitious target of providing sufficient quantities of seedlings of different vegetable crops to the farming community of the region.

The Department has introduced many initiatives to ensure round-the-year availability of vegetable seedlings to the farmers, he added.

The Director of Agriculture marked the importance of diverse vegetable cultivation for the region. He said the strengthening of vegetable cultivation in the region could play a vital role in achieving economic security for the farming community.

“Our climatic conditions are one of the most suitable in the country for the cultivation of vegetables (traditional, exotic) therefore to channel this potential a collaborative approach is needed wherein both the farming community and the department have to come forward and work shoulder to shoulder,” he further added.

The Director of Agriculture visited adjacent vegetable growing areas of Gangbug and took stock of the vegetable crops cultivated on the latest scientific lines in the area.

He reiterated the department’s commitment to the promotion of entrepreneurship in agriculture and allied sectors. He said the department is working on a multi-dimensional plan to attract more and more educated youth towards agriculture and allied activities.

He assured the concerned farmers of every possible technical support from the department during their endeavours.
