Srinagar: Police in Handwara attached property belonging to a “notorious drug”, a police spokesman informed Thursday.

He said a mini shopping complex comprising four shops belonging to Farooq Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Sultan Dar of Lachipora Handwara, was attached under section 68-F of NDPS Act 1985.

Police said Dar is involved in several NDPS cases including Case FIR No.316/2017 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Handwara, Case FIR No. 86/2020 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Handwara, Case FIR NO.242/2021 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Handwara and Case FIR No .36/23 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Handwara.

The property was identified as “illegally acquired property” during the course of the investigation by the police. “The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances by the drug peddler. The notorious drug peddler is currently under detention at central jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu under PIT-NDPS Act,” police said.
