Talat Parvez presides over public darbar at Sumlar Bandipora

BANDIPORA: Commissioner of Enquiries, J&K, Talat Parvez Rohella, on Tuesday, presided over a public darbar cum grievances redressal camp at Sumlar wherein he took stock of issues and concerns of the people besides reviewing development projects being executed in the area.

Chairperson District Development Council, Abdul Gani Bhat, DDC Vice Chairperson, Kowsar Shafeeq, Deputy Commissioner, Shakeel Ur Rehman Rather, DDC Member Arin, Gh Mohiuddin, ADDC, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, ADC, Umar Shafi and other senior officers besides representatives of various delegations were present on the occasion.

The public darbar witnessed overwhelming participation from all sections of the society who apprised the Commissioner of various developmental and other issues being faced by them.

The DDC Member Arin, on the occasion, presented a detailed overview of Arin block and also a detailed charter of demands including enhanced services of power supply, healthcare, education, skill centres, veterinary centres and roads among other issues.

Other demands put forth by the representatives of various delegations included the establishment of girls’ high schools, Degree Colleges, receiving stations, disposal of pending cases under PMAY and pending compensation for households affected by PMGSY. Besides, providing sheep rearing units to unemployed youth, forest timber depo in the area, wavering of KCC loans, bringing Arin Dardpora, Sirander and Kudara areas under the tourism map owing to the huge tourism potential of the region.

While responding to the demands of bringing some areas of the division on the tourism map, the Commissioner assured that all possibilities would be explored in this regard.

Regarding the issues of PMAY cases, BDO Arin informed that a total of 160 cases have been sanctioned for the current year while more than 150 cases have also been taken up for approval. He said that the first and second instalments have already been released in favour of these cases.

Talat Parvez, while interacting with line departments, called for adopting a time-bound redressal mechanism in resolving the issues of public importance by making optimum utilization of available resources.

The Commissioner, while addressing the gathering, assured them of proper action and timely redressal of their grievances. He said the public darbar is a platform to obtain a first-hand appraisal of public issues from the grassroots level besides reducing the communication gap between the public and the administration.

The Commissioner reiterated the commitment of the UT government towards ensuring holistic development in the villages, underscoring the administration’s focus on infrastructure, healthcare, education, and other key sectors.

Earlier, the Commissioner inspected various stalls installed by different departments. He also handed over authority and sanction letters to various beneficiaries pertaining to welfare and income generation schemes.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner reiterated that the district administration is committed towards the overall welfare and development of people living in Bandipora.
