The main function was held at Town Hall Pahalgam where RASTA Initiative was launched by the RTO Kashmir.

Addressing the media, Bukhari lauded the efforts of the District Administration’s unique initiative viz a viz Road Side Traffic Assistance (RASTA) where the administration will impart Basic Life Support Training to the Shopkeepers and commercial drivers so that in case of a crash the trained person can come to Assistance for the injured persons.

Addressing the commercial drivers, RTO Kashmir appealed to them to desist from overspeeding and not to indulge in rash and negligent driving. He directed ARTO Anantnag to take strict action against those who violate traffic laws.

Assistant Regional Transport Officer Anantnag, Dr Mohammad Zubair Lattoo highlighted the importance of disciplined driving on roads so that fatalities can be minimised. He said that the objective behind the RASTA initiative is to give basic training on first aid to first responders on roads (Passersby, Onlookers, and Shopkeepers) so that the life of a crash victim can be saved during the Golden Hour.

He said that it is not always possible to provide medical care to the victims, however many deaths and disabilities can be prevented due to timely First Aid.

After the event, First Aid Kits were distributed among the trainees.
