Srinagar: At least six people were injured after being attacked by a wild boar in the main town of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday.
News agency KNO quoted an official at District Hospital Kulgam saying that the wild boar appeared in the market and injured six people.
“The hospital has so far received six injured people who were attacked by a wild boar. They are being treated and vaccines have been administered to them,” he said.
The Wildlife Department and Kulgam police rushed to the spot and after strenuous efforts, they captured the wild boar in a bathroom, the official said.
Meanwhile, a youth was injured in an attack by a leopard in the Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Quoting officials, the news agency Kashmir Scroll that a leopard attacked one Umar Zahoor Sofi, son of Zahoor Ahmed Sofi of Mir Mohala Hajin. Sofi was admitted to Hajin Hospital and later referred to JVC Hospital for further treatment.
They said that the leopard had been trapped inside a building and the Wildlife sleuths were on the job to rescue the animal.
