Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Ganderbal and Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman informed Saturday.
He said police in Ganderbal raised the residential house of Javaid Ahmad Laharwal, son of late Abdul Gaffar Laharwal at Kondabal, and recovered a heron-like substance from there. The recovered contraband substance was seized in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and the accused was arrested on the spot, police said.
In Baramulla, at a checkpoint at Ahtishampora Boniyar, police intercepted and later arrested one Imran Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Bujhthalan Boniyar, after 46 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigations, police said.
