SRINAGAR: The Director of Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal, today visited different areas of Srinagar district.
During the visit, the Director inspected mushroom units and vermicompost units established under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) in the Amdakadal Lalbazar and Faqir Gujri areas. He also distributed farm machinery (Brush cutters and Sprayers) among Farmers at Theed, Harwan of Srinagar district.
Speaking to the farmers at different places, the Director highlighted the importance of HADP and said that it would be a game changer for agriculture and allied sectors in the region.
He asked the farmers to take advantage of all the projects under HADP. He also underscored the importance of coordinated efforts among the agriculture and allied departments for the successful implementation of all the projects under HADP.
Iqbal impressed upon officers of the department to organise farmers’ awareness programs and to accelerate the frequency of field visits so that the farmers could remain updated regarding the benefits of different programmes by the department.
Director Agriculture also inaugurated a semi-hi tech polygreen house under (HADP) at Brien Srinagar.
The director was accompanied by the Chief Agriculture Officer in Srinagar, Manohar Lal Sharma; the Sub-divisional Agriculture officer of Srinagar, Shaheen Kousar and some other officers from the district.
Later, the Director kick-started the distribution of vegetable seedlings (Saag G.M Dari, cabbage, lettuce etc) produced under Controlled conditions at Kitchen Gardens Lalmandi Srinagar.
