SRINAGAR: Principal Secretary, Agriculture Production Department, Shailendra Kumar, Friday presided over a mega Public Darbar at Banquet Hall Srinagar and took first-hand appraisal of the issues and demands of the people of Srinagar District.

Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, Senior Superintendent of Police(SSP) Srinagar, Ashish Mishra, Director Agriculture, Director Sheep Husbandry, Director Animal Husbandry, Chief Engineers of R&B, Secretary SMC and other Sectoral/District Officers of District Administration were present on the occasion.

Vice Chairman, DDC Bilal Ahmad Bhat and other DDC members and scores of delegations were also part of the mega Public Outreach programme.

The Public Darbar witnessed an overwhelming response from the public during which people apprised the Principal Secretary about their developmental issues and demands by seeking his intervention in redressing the same in a time-bound manner.

Delegations of Traders Association Lal Chowk, Small Scale Industries Association, Kashmir Houseboat Owners Association, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industries, JK Hoteliers, All J&K Transporters Association, Kisan Behbood Committee, All Street Vendors Association and other several delegations also attended the Public Darbar and submitted memorandum of demands.

The delegations expressed satisfaction over the conduct of the outreach programme and said this provides people with an opportunity to voice their grievances and for the Administration to expedite the resolution through the appropriate channels.

At the outset, the Principal Secretary while listening to the public delegations, gave a patient hearing to the issues and grievances of the people. He issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned Officers to address all the grievances put forth by the delegations during public darbar meticulously in a time-bound manner.

Shailendra Kumar assured all individuals and delegations that the issues and genuine demands projected by them would be redressed on a merit basis.

The Principal Secretary also gave directions to the concerned officers to personally visit the places and find solutions to the problems for the benefit of the public good. He emphasized that the top priority of the Government is to ensure that basic facilities and services are delivered to the general public in an efficient and timely manner.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat welcomed the participants and briefed the chair about the District profile.

During the public darbar, a delegation of Panzinara raised their long pending concern of jurisdictional issues and sought early resolution of the same.

Another delegation from Harwan demanded for upgradation of PHC and the development of a playground, besides the establishment of a Fruit Mandi in the area.

A delegation of Soiteng raised the issue of the installation of a dewatering station and augmentation of the drainage network and said that low-lying areas have to face problems during the rainy season due to the poor drainage system.

Similarly, another delegation from Lasjan demanded for upgradation of school infrastructure, PHC and drainage network in their area.

Another delegation of Traders raised the issue related to the parking of vehicles for the shopkeepers of the Lal Chowk.

The transporters also projected their issues and demands during the public darbar.

Likewise, other delegations mainly approached him with civic problems pertaining to the upgradation of roads, health facilities, water supply, better provision of health facilities in rural areas and upgradation of schools etc.
