SRINAGAR: The Director of Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal, today visited Seed Multiplication Farm (SMF) Allowpora, Shopian.
While interacting with the concerned officers and technical staff of the farm, the Director said that SMFs are the most important assets of the Department and in order to achieve the target of self-reliance in the field of seed production and assured seed availability to the farming community of the union territory with respect to all the crops grown in the region, Department is committed to promoting these SMFs on modern scientific lines.
He said the departmental farms are practising modern scientific techniques in crop science, during the seed production of different agriculture crops.
The Director of Agriculture exhorted upon the concerned officers to organise awareness programmes, invite farmers and agri-entrepreneurs to these farms and hold demonstration sessions with them so that modern scientific technology could be transmitted to the grassroots level in a comprehensive manner.
Later, the Director visited Tahab, Wasoora, Palpora and some other areas of Pulwama District. He inaugurated a Hi-tech polyhouse at Wasoora Palpora and held interaction with the farmers at many places.
The Director of Agriculture was accompanied by District Agriculture Officer Pulwama, Shahnawaz Ahmad Shah and other officers of the Department.
