Srinagar: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday said they have caught a Range officer, Kuhihama Forest Division, Bandipora, red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for processing a bill.
ACB in a statement said that it received a written complaint against Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi, Range officer, Kuhihama, Bandipora, that the concerned officer is demanding a bribe as commission of Rs 10,000 for processing bills for release of due payments to the complainant.
A case was registered, and a trap team was constituted, which caught the accused Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi, son of Late Assadullah Sofi, resident of Onagam, Bandipora, red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe money of Rs 10,000. The bribe amount was recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses, ACB statement said.
It said the accused was taken into custody, and subsequently searches were also conducted at his residence for further investigation.
