SRINAGAR: In a significant initiative towards fostering business growth and enhancing marketing strategies for small-scale industries, a one-week Management Development Program on “Business Marketing Management with Special Focus on GEM” was inaugurated at IICT Nowshera. 

The Branch MSME DFO Srinagar organized the program in collaboration with the Kashmir Small Scale Industrial Association Bagh Ali Mardhan Khan.

Besides the organizing Department represented by Assistant Director Saheel Alaqband, The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Director IICT Zubair Ahmad Shah, President KSSIA  Syed Fazal Illahi, Former FCIK President Syed Shakeel Qalander and Industrialist Munshi Muzaffar.

During his welcome address, President KSSIA Syed Fazal Illahi emphasized the crucial importance of such programs in empowering local businesses. He highlighted the need for small-scale industries to adapt to modern marketing practices.

In his keynote address, Assistant Director Saheel Alaqband shed light on the transformative shift in the business landscape, with increasing enterprises adopting digital platforms for marketing industrial products. He emphasized the program’s commitment to providing participants with detailed insight into GeM registration and navigating marketing opportunities through various social media platforms.

The Assistant Director stated, “In the era of digitalization, businesses must harness the power of online platforms for marketing. GeM registration is a gateway to tapping into government procurement, and understanding its nuances is vital for the growth of small-scale industries.”

The program is designed to offer comprehensive guidance on GeM registration processes and strategies for effective utilization. Additionally, it will provide insights into leveraging other social media platforms for marketing, recognizing the importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for business growth, and addressing the need for design in manufacturing.

Participants can expect a well-rounded curriculum that covers key aspects of modern business marketing, equipping them with the knowledge and skills required to thrive in today’s competitive business environment.

During his address, the Director of IICT underscored the importance of GeM as the primary procuring platform for various government departments. He stressed that for the growth of manufacturing-based MSMEs, enrollment in GeM is not just beneficial but essential. The GeM platform streamlines procurement processes, making it a crucial avenue for businesses to connect with government entities.

In their addresses, industrialists said GeM is a necessary platform for businesses now.  We want such programs to be held in other estates, too, which will help in the capacity building of MSMEs in marketing management. They added that Comprehensive Marketing Support for Manufacturing/service-based MSMEs of J&K is a must for survival.

With regards to GeM, “The financial limit filter for procurement from J&K needs to be revisited and increased to facilitate more inclusive participation, stated one of the industrialists.”

Industrialist Hamid Chashoo Coordinated the successful conduction of the program wherein 25 MSMEs are participating. The collaboration between Br- MSME DFO Srinagar and the Kashmir Small Scale Industrial Association underscores the commitment to supporting local businesses, fostering innovation, and driving economic growth in the region.
