Speaking on the occasion, the Director of Agriculture said that under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) a multi-dimensional project is being implemented by the department for the promotion and development of the Vegetable sector in the region. He said the vegetable sector has a huge potential for revenue and employment generation.

Iqbal said the time when our vegetable production season is on, it is off-season for the rest of the country which makes us special and allows our produce to have a readily available market and good prices. He asked the farmers to take benefit of these special agro-climatic conditions and fetch maximum returns for their produce.

The Director of Agriculture asked young farmers/agri-preneurs to take advantage of the different projects under HADP and contribute to the development of the agriculture economy. He said that young educated farmers are doing a good job and the trend is encouraging indeed.

He impressed upon the officers and technical experts from the department to work shoulder to shoulder with these farmers, particularly young farmers and guide them during the pre and post-harvesting operations.

Chief Agriculture Officer Anantnag, Ajaz Ahmad Dar and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
