SRINAGAR: The Director of Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal, today visited Seed Multiplication Farm (SMF) Sumbal Bandipora and took stock of the different agriculture activities there.
He also inspected different blocks of the farm where he was briefed by the concerned technical experts.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director of Agriculture reiterated the department’s commitment to the complete transformation of departmental farms. He said that the department is working on a long-term plan to make departmental farms the centres of excellence with respect to different crops and agriculture activities.
He impressed upon the concerned officers to add more and more crops/ varieties to the cultivation, and production menu of concerned farms. The main objective is to ensure the availability of quality and sufficient quantity of seeds of different crops to the farming community of the region, he added.
Iqbal exhorted upon the concerned officers and farm managers to invite farmers and agri-preneurs to the concerned farms and hold demonstration sessions with them so that modern scientific technologies could be transmitted to the grassroots level comprehensively.
