Srinagar: A Special Police Officer (SPO) was killed after allegedly being hit by a cab in Mattan area in Anantnag district on Wednesday, officials said.
Initially police said it was a case of hit and run and nothing was known about the vehicle that had hit the SPO Mohammad Maqbool Ganie while he was on ‘naka’ duty at Bumzoo in Mattan area.
“The injured SPO was immediately taken to GMC Anantnag, where he was declared as brought dead on arrival,” the officials said.
Later on a police official said that they have arrested one Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat of Aishmuqam, and seized his SUMO cab (JK012-1976) for being involved in the accident that led to SPO’s death. (KS)
