Srinag: Security forces have apprehended two “terrorist associates” from Bemina area of the city and recovered arms and explosives from their possession, officials said here on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson in a statement here said that acting on information about the movement of suspected terrorists along Bypass road, a checkpoint was set up near Sham Lal Petrol Pump, Nundresh Colony at the Bypass.

During checking, a white-coloured Santro car (JK09A-2788) coming from Parimpora and headed towards Tengpora, was stopped. “During search, two terrorist associates of proscribed terror outfit LeT, identified as Mumtaz Ahmad Lone, son of Ghulam Qadir Lone, and Jahangir Ahmad Lone, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Lone of Trehgam Kupwara, were arrested and cache of arms and ammunition including two Pistols, four magazines, two filler magazines and eight grenades were recovered from their possession,” police said. 

A case (FIR No.128/2023) under relevant sections of law has been registered in this regard and further investigation initiated, police said.
