JAMMU: Jammu & Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) today organized UT Level Stakeholders Consultation under the RAMP Programme besides conducting an Investor Facilitation Meet chaired by Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Vikramjit Singh, at Convention Centre Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner Secretary appreciated the J&K Trade Promotion Organization for hosting such sessions where all Investors, trade bodies, industrial associations and other officials get a proper platform to have a threadbare discussion on the issues faced by industrialists.
The session had open house one-to-one discussions with investors, industrial associations and trade bodies regarding the issues faced by them in different verticals such as land, power, change of land use, industrial estates, environmental clearances etc.
Vikramjit Singh addressed the issues related to land allotment, and provision of basic amenities such as power, and road connectivity and assured that necessary support will be provided to the industries for smooth and hassle-free operations. “Government is working towards improving the industrial ecosystem of J&K and addressing their grievances and concerns”, he asserted.
The Commissioner Secretary said that the Department of Industries and Commerce is taking various steps to ensure the land-related issues are resolved by accruing new land. He informed that an MoU has been signed with CPWD to develop Industrial Estate and the department will ensure that all eligible will allotted soon.
Keeping in view the persistent demand of trade/industrial associations/MSMEs, the Commissioner Secretary invited all the representatives of MSMEs, Handicraft cooperatives, Self Help Groups and officers/officials from various departments to wholeheartedly participate in the survey and data collection exercise, so that, a realistic and need-based Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) could be formulated for uplifting and boosting the MSME sector in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, the Managing Director said that the preparation of a Strategic Investment Plan under RAMP is the key and important factor in upgrading and accelerating MSMEs and this is the time when all the stakeholders have to participate and help in the formation of this document for JKUT.
It was explained that RAMP is a Central Sector Scheme launched by the Ministry of MSME after the COVID-19 outbreak to strengthen and support the MSME sector and the Department of Industries & Commerce, J&K has been assigned the responsibility to implement the RAMP programme in UT of Jammu and Kashmir. It was added that consultations with wide groups of MSMEs covering all districts and sectors including traditional industries and handicrafts would be held in the coming days to obtain inputs/suggestions and assess the gaps/challenges.
A team of consultants gave a detailed presentation on the RAMP programme and preparation of a Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) to be implemented for boosting the MSMEs in Jammu and Kashmir. The team further added that a comprehensive questionnaire with regard to MSMEs has been prepared and will be circulated among the MSMEs in the UT for better understanding and implementation of the programme and will be implemented at the District Level for gathering data/inputs and based on the ground reality.
Further, they sought inputs/suggestions from the Stakeholders and the session was enriched with constructive feedback from the industry associations, entrepreneurs and potential investors. It was concluded that the way forward will be conducting more such meetings at various Administrative/Division/District levels to get insight on local issues and feedback from the industry veterans and MSME stakeholders.

In addition, representatives from over 40 Trade/Industrial Associations and Industries namely ITC, Aadhya Food and Beverages, Naturis Cosmetics Pvt. Ltd and Industrial associations like CII, FICCI, Bari Brahmana Industrial Association, PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Federation of Industries Jammu, Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Jammu also participated in the event.
