Union Joint Secretary AYUSH participates in Tribal Pride Week celebration at Jammu

JAMMU: In a significant stride towards fostering tribal welfare and inclusivity, Kavita Garg, Union Joint Secretary, Ministry for AYUSH, visited the Post Graduate Boys Tribal Hostel, Jammu.

The visit was a critical component of the broader Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and coincided with the ongoing Janjatiya Gaurav Saptah, a week-long celebration honouring the rich cultural heritage and contribution of tribal communities in India.

As the Parbhari Officer for Jammu district, Garg’s visit was instrumental in delivering a much-needed asset to the hostel, a 63KV generator set. This infrastructure enhancement, long sought after by the hostel’s student community, signifies the government’s responsiveness toward the needs of tribal students.

The event was attended by the officers including Musheer Ahmad Mirza, Director Tribal Affairs Department, Sandeep Seointra, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ishita Rathi, Dr. Abdul Khabir, Deputy Director of the department.

During her address, Garg highlighted the significance of Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, emphasizing its role as the government’s most expansive outreach initiative. She underscored the commitment towards ensuring that the fruits of government schemes reach every corner of the nation, aligning with the vision of 100% saturation in service delivery. 

The occasion also dovetailed with the Janjatiya Gaurav Saptah, providing a platform to celebrate the unique cultures, traditions and achievements of India’s tribal communities.

This event was one among a series of initiatives being held during the week that aimed to showcase tribal art, culture, and heritage, fostering a greater understanding and appreciation among the broader population.

Dr. Abdul Khabir, in his welcome address, outlined various initiatives being undertaken by the department for tribal students. He highlighted the reformative measures being implemented by the department.
