SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, Friday undertook a visit to the Zewan area of the District to oversee the progress of ongoing works being executed for providing Migrant Transit Accommodation to the PM Package employees.

During the visit, the DC was accompanied by the Chief Planning Officer, Superintending Engineer, PHE, Executive Engineer R&B, Executive Engineer PDD, Tehsildar Panthachowk and others concerned.

The Deputy Commissioner took a round of the various under-construction blocks of the Migrant Transit Accommodations. He was apprised that the work on the project for construction of 39 blocks comprising of 936 flats is going on in full swing and as on date an amount of Rs 50 Cr has been expended against the allotted cost of Rs 112.34 crore.

While reviewing the present status of the project, the DC was informed that over 50 per cent target under the project has been achieved with the completion of civil works on 26 blocks comprising 624 flats.

About providing drinking water facilities at the Transit Camp, the DC was informed that over 40 % of work has been completed on the construction of a 50,000-gallon RCC Sump and Operators quarter for Rs 32.24 lakh. 75 % of work on the Construction of a 100000-gallon dome-type RCC service reservoir has been completed for which Rs 35.04 lakh have been earmarked.

Likewise, the Rs 1.28 crore project for the Pipe network and construction of the Chowkidar quarter is also under the allotment process. In addition, a project for the Construction of chain-link fencing around structures has also been allotted with the cost of Rs 19 lakh.

While Rs 1.10 project for the Electrical Mechanical component is in the tendering process through the Rural Mechanical Division.

Similarly, while reviewing the Status of under construction 1×10 MVA, 33/11 kV Receiving Station & allied works for Transit Accommodation being carried out at an estimated cost of Rs 3.61 crore, the DC was informed that 10 Mva Receiving station will be commissioned, however, power supply to the towers would be made by December 2023.

Similarly, the DC took firsthand appraisal of Distribution works being executed at an estimated cost of Rs 6.06 crore comprising the Erection of 2 No.11kV feeders, DTs for 39 residential towers, and Illumination/Streetlights to the periphery.

The DC was informed that 2 No. dedicated 11kV feeders for the transit camp shall be completed by December 2023 and Insulation of 10 Nos DTs for 10 Blocks which are expected to be made functional by end of December 23 shall be taken up side by side with the landscape works of the R&B department. While for installation of streetlights, SE KPDCL was told to immediately start the same based on the layout given by the R&B Department.

On the occasion, the DC asked the concerned executing agency to hand over 10 blocks of the facility by December 2023 as committed by the executing agency and further accelerate the pace of ongoing construction works to ensure the timely completion of the whole project.
