Agri Deptt Kashmir celebrates ‘Janajatiya Gaurav Diwas’

SRINAGAR: To celebrate ‘Janajatiya Gaurav Diwas’ in Kashmir, the Director of Agriculture today inaugurated the function at the Directorate of Agriculture Lalmandi, Srinagar.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director of Agriculture gave a detailed presentation on the importance of the day and directed all Chief Agriculture Officers of the Kashmir division to celebrate the Janjatiyai Gaurav Diwas with enthusiasm at each district.

Meanwhile, the Joint Director of Agriculture Extension Kashmir visited the Faqir Gujri area of the Srinagar district and took stock of the ongoing Rabi campaign in the area.

Speaking to farmers, JD reiterated the department’s commitment to the development of farmers belonging to the backward, far-flung areas. He said that the department is endeavouring to bring more and more cultivable lands under the cultivation of Rabi crops including oilseeds so that the socio-economic transformation of these communities could be achieved. He said that agriculture activities are going on across the Kashmir division for the promotion of Rabi crops.

He impressed upon the concerned officers to work shoulder to shoulder with the farming community and guide them during their cultivation operations.

JD asked the farmers to benefit from different schemes and programmes by the department.

Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar, Manohar Lal Sharma and SDAO Srinagar also expressed their views on the occasion.
