SKUAST-K holds EAP for Tribal Farmers of Budgam

BUDGAM: SKUAST-K, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Budgam today organized a one-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme (EAP) on ‘Entrepreneurship Opportunities in Milk Processing and Value Addition Industry’ for tribal farmers of Shanglipora, Khag Budgam.

The awareness programme was approved by the Director of Planning and Monitoring SKUAST-Kashmir and sponsored by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME), GoI.

The programme was designed to sensitize and build an entrepreneurial mindset among the farmers/rural youth in the dairy industry. A total of 70 tribal farmers/rural youth from the said area were sensitized.

During the programme, Dr. Bilal Ahmad Lone (Sr. Scientist & Head KVK Budgam) stressed upon the need for up-skilling of youth to instil an entrepreneurship spirit among the people, especially in Dairy Industry.

Course Coordinator, Dr Mir Nadeem Hassan (Scientist Animal Science) provided an overview of the programme and delivered lectures on the Processing and Value Addition of Milk and the Development of Market Linkage in the Milk Industry for Better Profitability.

Dr. Shafkat Wani (Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Animal Husbandry Department) discussed different schemes offered by the Govt. of J&K in the Dairy Sector for the benefit of rural youth.

During the programme, Mudasir Ahmad Dar (Entrepreneur) also shared his Dairy Entrepreneurship Journey Experience for inspiration from farmers who attended the programme.

The programme was also attended by other faculty members of Kendra.
