Secy Mining reviews progress of SSR of Photo Electoral Rolls of Pulwama, Shopian Districts

PULWAMA: To ensure transparent and comprehensive voter registration in Pulwama and Shopian districts, Secretary Mining, Dr. Rashmi Singh today chaired a meeting to review the progress of the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of the Photo Electoral Rolls of these districts here.

Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom; Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb, all the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) of the respective districts attended the meeting.

During the meeting, discussions centred on the arrangements and measures to facilitate the seamless and successful conduct of the ongoing Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls. 

A close review of the progress regarding claims and objections was also conducted to ensure accuracy and inclusivity in the electoral rolls. 

The meeting also focused on addressing issues related to voter awareness and ensuring that no eligible voter is left out during the revision process.

During the meeting, Dr. Rashmi Singh, who is also the Electoral Roll Observer for Pulwama and Shopian districts, laid strong emphasis on bolstering Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities to ensure that no eligible voter is left behind and promoting a healthy and inclusive electoral process. She also stressed on the enrollment of any previously unregistered voters to ensure a fair and robust electoral process.

Dr. Rashmi also emphasised upon the concerned EROs and AEROs to conduct revisions according to the guidelines of ECI as per the notified schedule and expedite the process for achieving targets. She also asked them to ensure the timely disposal of claims and objections.

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama provided a comprehensive update on the progress of activities within the district during the Special Summary Revision Meeting of Photo Electoral Rolls. His report shed light on the various initiatives and developments in Pulwama, ensuring that the electoral revision process in the district was proceeding smoothly and efficiently.

Deputy Commissioner Shopian also delivered an elaborate overview of the developments in Shopian District. His briefing provided insights into the specific advancements in District Shopian, contributing to a well-rounded understanding of the electoral revision efforts in this district.

Furthermore, a meeting with representatives from various political parties was held, during which their concerns and grievances were heard attentively.
