Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers including a woman in Baramulla and Anantnag and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Saturday. 

He said at Chandil Wanigam, police arrested one Nazir Ahmad Malik alias SP, son of Abdul Gani, resident of Wanigam and recovered 110 grams of contraband cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.

During his questioning, he confessed that he had brought contraband substances from one Afroza Begum, wife of Ghulam Nabi Shah of Sari Mohalla Singhpora Pattan. Subsequently, a police party along with a Magistrate raided the said woman’s house and arrested her, recovering 140 grams of cannabis-like substance from her.

At a checkpoint at Drangbal, Baramulla one Abdul Majeed Mir, son of Abdul Ahad of Bagh-i-Islam Baramulla was arrested after 265 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. 

Near Uranhall Fruit Mandi, one Mohammad Shafi Wani, son of Gull Mohammad Wani of Batangoo Anantnag, was arrested after 5 kgs of cannabis powder was recovered from his possession. 

Police said cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at respective police stations in all these instances for further investigation.
