Srinagar: Police on Monday said they have cracked a “blind” murder case of a woman from Bemina area of the uptown city and arrested four persons in this regard.

Sharing details, police said on October 17, police had recovered the body of an unidentified woman from the roadside at Durbal, Bemina.

A case (FIR No. 101/2023 u/s 302 IPC) was registered at Police Station Bemina and during investigations, the deceased woman was identified as Tanveera, wife of Showkat Ahmad Kaloo, resident of Nundresh Colony B, Batamaloo, Srinagar, police said.

“Investigations also established that the woman had been murdered on October 16 at West End Colony, Hyderpora, and subsequently her dead body was shifted from there and dumped at Durbal Bemina,” police said.

“Based on available technical evidence, sustained interrogation of the suspects and subsequent recoveries, four accused persons including the victim’s sister-in-law  Abina Parvez, wife of Parveez Ahmad Shah of West End Colony, Hyderpora; her parents — Ghulam Mohammad Ahanger (son of Late Haji Ghulam Hussain Ahanger of Khushipora HMT, at present Gulposh Apartment Bemina), and his wife Jala Wadoo; and a minor female (name withheld) have been arrested by Police Station Bemina so far,” a police statement said, without elaborating on the motive or modus of the murder. (GNS)
