They have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal Jammu.

Police said many cases are registered against these drug smugglers and they were involved in promoting drug abuse and trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Baramulla, Kreeri, Pattan and other areas of the district Baramulla.

Police also said a drug peddler was in Awantipora and contraband substances were recovered from his possession.

The accused — Nazir Ahmad Wagay, son of Abdul Satar Wagay of Udipora Shahura, Tehsil Litter – was arrested at Panzgam Crossing after eight kgs of cannabis powder was recovered from his possession, police said.
