Anantnag: The members of Maraaz Adbee Sangam gathered in Bijbahara today, where they convened a pivotal general body meeting.
The primary focus of this assembly was to set in motion the arrangements for the upcoming annual conference. The newly formed committee entrusted with this task comprises eminent individuals such as Dr. Mohammad Shafi Ayaz, Izhar Mubashir, Raja Muzaffar, and Riyaz Anznoo. With unanimous enthusiasm, all members concurred that the annual conference would take place in the second week of November.
During the meeting, heartfelt tributes were paid to the memory of Ghulam Nabi Khyal and Syed Ghulam Rasool Gayoor, two illustrious contributors to the organization. In addition to commemorating these luminaries, the meeting successfully finalized the awards for the year 2023.
After an exhaustive deliberation period spanning three months, and consultation with various experts, the five-member award committee, comprising Riyaz Anznoo, Manzoor Khalid, Lone Imtiyaz, Mir Roshan Khayal, and the coordinator of the Award committee, Mr Bashir Zair, submitted their well-considered decisions to Izhar Mubashir, the General Secretary of Maraaz Adbee Sangam, on October 7, 2023. These decisions were subsequently presented to Ali Shaida, President of Maraaz Adbee Sangam, for official endorsement and announcement.
President Ali Shaida formally ratified the awards, with Dr Mohammad Shafi Ayaz, Vice President of Maraaz Adbee Sangam, present to lend his support. In the wake of the President’s approval, he issued directives to the General Secretary to make an official announcement of the distinguished awards.
The awards, as approved by the prestigious Maraaz Adbee Sangam, are as follows:
Shan E Maraaz 2023: Awarded to S. Razi, a prominent poet and writer of Jammu and Kashmir, and a founding member of Maraaz Adbee Sangam. S. Razi has contributed immensely to the Kashmiri language and literature, with 16 books to his name, and received the Bal Sahitya Praskar from Sahitya Akademi New Delhi in 2010.
Sharf E Maraaz 2023: Bestowed upon Brij Nath Pandit Betab, a renowned broadcaster, poet, and writer in the Kashmiri language. He boasts an impressive bibliography of 8 published works and has earned multiple national-level awards.
Shah Para Maraaz 2023: Presented to Ashraf Ravi for his critical analysis titled “Gona Saevi Gonmath.” Ashraf Ravi represents the young generation of Kashmiri writers and has earned his place among the leading contributors to the language and literature.
Shama Maraaz 2023: Awarded to Chaudhary Sharifuddin Qamar for his poetry collection “Manka Moti,” written in the Gojri language. Sharifuddin Qamar’s dedication to promoting the Gojri language and culture has yielded remarkable success.
