ANANTNAG: The Director of Fisheries, J&K, Mohammad Farooq Dar, today conducted a comprehensive review of the Trout fish livestock status within the Trout Fish Farming Project (TFFP), Kokernag and the southern districts of Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, and Pulwama.

The meeting was convened at the Fisheries In-Service Training Centre in Kokernag and witnessed the active participation of Joint Director Fisheries (South) Kashmir, A. M Tak, Chief Project Officer Trout Fish Farming Project Kokernag, Principal Training Centre, Kokernag as well as concerned district officers and farm managers/in-charges responsible for overseeing various fish farming units in the region.

At the outset, Joint Director Fisheries provided a detailed overview of the operations and activities of the Fish Farming Project, Kokernag, as well as other farms and units in the southern districts.

During the visit, the Director of Fisheries conducted an in-depth evaluation of the functioning of various fish farms. He imparted valuable instructions and guidance to the attending officers and officials.

He emphasised on harnessing their expertise and management skills to foster improvements in the production and overall productivity of these fish farming units.

He said the objective is to enhance the contribution of trout fish farming to the region’s agricultural and economic landscape, thereby boosting food security and livelihood opportunities.

Director Fisheries also emphasized for achievements of targets fixed for the current fiscal year and sought feedback for revision of the denomination of different components of revenue realization in the department.
