Srinagar: Police have arrested five drug peddlers in Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Thursday.
He said two suspicious persons were intercepted at Gudsathoo and 9.3 kgs of poppy straw concealed in a bag was recovered from their possession. Identified as Amar ,Chand son of Murti Ram, resident of Arnahali Rohan Nawan Shahr Punjab, and Rohit Kumar, son of Parasholam Lal of Mahal Gailan Shaheed Bagat Singh Nagar Punjab, both persons were arrested.
At Zabgul, a car (JK01H-0343) with three persons on board was intercepted and during its search, 10 kgs of poppy straw was recovered from it. Tariq Ahmad Ganie and Tanvir Ahmad Ganie, sons of Ghulam Mohammad Ganie of Rakhwachoo, and Bashir Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Ahad Dar of Sholipora, travelling in the car were arrested and the vehicle seized, police said.
