Over 71 kanals of govt land retrieved from encroachers in Srinagar

Srinagar: Srinagar district administration on Thursday undertook a major anti-encroachment drive across the district and reclaimed over 71 kanals of prime State and Kahcharie land worth crores from the land-grabbers, an official press release informed.

It said the anti-encroachment operation was launched in all seven Tehsils of Srinagar including, Eidgah, North Srinagar, Panthachowk, Khanyar, South Srinagar, Central Shalteng and Chanapora.

The special anti-encroachment squads constituted by administration headed by respective Tehsildars conducted anti-encroachment drives while taking assistance from police and other departments.

As per the press release, in Batpora, Shalimar and Syedpora Bala villages, authorities retrieved 14 kanals and five marlas of State/Kacharie land from the land grabbers under survey numbers 1604, 1605, 76 min and 37 min.

In Khanyar Tehsil, 35 kanals and nine marlas of State land were also retrieved in Brane villages under survey numbers 4929, 399, and 2744.

In Lasjan, as many as five kanals and five marlas of land was retrieved under survey number 27/1 and 142 min at Zawoora and Lasjan areas of the Tehsil.

Likewise, in Zoonimar village in Eidgah Tehsil, eight kanals of State land under survey no. 1266 min worth Rs 40.74 crore was retrieved from the illegal occupants.

 In South Tehsil, in Shivpora area 27 marlas of land under survey number. 168 min and 169 min were retrieved from the encroachers.

In Gund Hassi Bhat and Khushipora villages of Central Shalteng Tehsil, two kanals and nine marlas of State land have been evicted under survey numbers 156 min and 895/281.

 In Chanapora Tehsil, five kanals of State land was also retrieved from land grabbers in Rawalpora village under survey numbers 1959 and 1960.
