Jammu: Two alleged inter-state narcotic smugglers were arrested and heroin was recovered from them in Samba district on Tuesday, officials said. They were arrested in the Samba area during a routine check, they said.
A case has been registered against the accused — Israr Talib and Kannav Magotra alias Kannu, they said.
The two men were allegedly involved in illicit heroin smuggling from Samba to Jammu and Rajouri districts, officials said.
Meanwhile, police in Kulgam said they have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Police intercepted a suspicious person at Poniwah Chowk and recovered 4 Kgs of poppy straw-like contraband substance from his possession. Identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Bhat, resident of Poniwah, the accused was arrested and a case registered, police spokesman said.
At a checkpoint at Levdoora, 3 kgs of poppy straw-like contraband substance was recovered from the possession of one Soeyb Khan, son of Liyaqat Khan, resident of Wazir Gunj UP. He was also arrested and a case registered.
