Srinagar: Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh today visited North Kashmir’s Police District Sopore where he Inaugurated a couple of facilities for jawans and officers, besides chaired a security review meeting and a police Darbar.
Accompanied by IGP (Hqrs/CIV) PHQ, B. S Tuti the DGP first inaugurated the Electronic Surveillance Unit (ESU) Lab at Police Component Sopore, Wet & Dry canteen at DPL, besides DySP police component office. This was followed by a joint security review meeting of officers.
The security review meeting was attended by DIG NKR Vivek Gupta, Birgaider 7 Sector RR Deepak Mohan, SSP Sopore Shabir Nawab, CO 22 RR Sunil Yadav, CO 179 CRPF Santosh Kumar, CO 92 RR Rakesh Chander and other jurisdictional officers.
While addressing the officers, the DGP J&K appreciated the role of Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security forces in combating terrorism and providing a better security environment to the people of J&K. He directed the officers to strengthen the security grid and plug in the gaps with strict security measures to track down the remaining terrorists. He said that terrorists and their masters are frustrated by witnessing the peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir and are attempting to create disturbance and added that forces have to be extra alert to foil their evil designs.
He said that people of J&K have expectations from the forces and we have to fulfill their expectations by working with commitment. He stressed for keeping a strict vigil on the activities of anti-national elements attempting to disrupt the peace in J&K. He said that wholehearted cooperation of the people with the forces has helped in maintaining sustained peace and these relations should be strengthened at all levels to defeat ill designs of inimical elements. The DGP directed the officers to utilize their resources and energies efficiently to gain further confidence in the people, making them stakeholders in the dividends of peace and progress.
Later on, while addressing the police Darbar the DGP, J&K said that Jammu and Kashmir police along with other forces has worked day in and day out for the situation we are witnessing today. He stressed for continuing with the efforts to ensure terror and drug-free Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasised for doing the duty with utmost honesty in extending the police services to the people. He appreciated the Sopore police for maintaining peace and tranquility in the district.
Singh directed the police officers to prepare for a result-oriented investigation which he said is of utmost importance.
He said that the Jammu and Kashmir police is known across the country for its commitment and service to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and added that we have to continue with our efforts in extending the best possible service to the people
With regard to the welfare measures, the DGP said that police headquarters has been considering the welfare of jawans and officers on a priority. He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has yesterday signed a MOU wherein JK Bank would extend preferential services to J&K police personnel as well as to the police martyrs and martyr SPOs which is another step towards the welfare of jawans and officers. He said that facilitates for police personnel has been improving across the UT.
Speaking to the media, the DGP said that terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir is all-time low and efforts are on to wipe out the remnants of terrorism in whatever or whichever form they exist in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that we need to put our joint efforts to ensure drug-free Jammu and Kashmir, which he said is another form of terrorism. With regard to recent incidents in Baramulla and Tral, the DGP said that investigations are on to ascertain the cause of these incidents.
