Srinagar: A residential house was damaged in a massive blaze that broke out as a result of a blast in a domestic LPG cylinder at Khanyar area in the old city on Wednesday.

The incident, officials said, took place at Mirza Bagh area in Khanyar, leaving a residential house, also housing two shops, damaged. He said that a man running one of the shops as a tenant was also injured in the incident.

The incident, he said, took place around 4pm this afternoon creating chaos and confusion in the area.

The injured man identified as Bilal Ahmad, as per locals, was manufacturing cotton bedding in the rented shop.

A team from Fire and Emergency Services immediately rushed to the scene and doused the flames.

“Prima facie, it seems the fire broke out as a result of a blast in a domestic LPG cylinder in which a residential house was completely damaged while a man has also suffered minor injuries. Fire tenders from three nearby stations were rushed to the spot as soon as we received the information,” an official told reporters.
