3 drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act in Baramulla

Srinagar: Police have booked three “most wanted & notorious” drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act in Baramulla after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority taking to 54 the number of people booked under this law during the current year in district Baramulla alone, a police spokesman informed Friday.

He said the three accused drug smugglers — Rouf Ahmad Wani, son of Nazir Ahmad, resident of RoshanabadPinjooraKunzer;  Bashir Ahmad Malla, son of Abdul Razzaq, resident of Dhobiwan Kunzer, and Farooq Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Mir, resident of ZasporaTangmarg — have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority. The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu.

Police said in Baramulla district alone 54 drug smugglers have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act/PSA so far during the current year.

Meanwhile police in Budgam said they have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

At a checkpoint established at Iskanderpora, police  arrested a drug peddler — Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat of IskanderporaKhag, and recovered  four Kgs of poppy straw from his possession.
